Don’t worry about Stanly, it’s perfectly normal for him to loose his antlers and it doesn’t hurt at all.

Red deer stags shed their antlers annually usually early spring around March and April, each year they grow back bigger and bigger. What’s more amazing is the new antlers grow back covered in soft fuzzy velvet, the stags then rub off the velvet (which is why we have trees and posts for them) to reveal the shiny new antlers in August/September ready for showing off to the other deer.
